This Designer Turned a Chemist Shop Into Something Unexpected - detail

Anya Hindmarch is doing something rather clever with Britain's favourite chemist. She has opened a 1970s-inspired concept store with Boots.

You will find it at The Village Hall in London's Pont Street. It is a pop-up filled with leather accessories and everyday toiletries. Each one has been given a joyful design twist.

Anya x Boots Store

From cotton buds to wash bags, everything pays tribute to Boots' rich history. Hindmarch spent time in the brand's archive. She studied the old packaging, the signage, the shop interiors. Then she created a space that feels like an elegant apothecary with retro charm.

Picture arched wood-framed windows. Staff in crisp white coats. A colour palette lifted straight from the original Boots blue-and-white.

"It's a bit of a 1970s Boots from my childhood," said Hindmarch. "These are the things that will pep up your bathroom in January."

The collection includes tongue-in-cheek nods to Berocca, Advil, Band-Aid and more. There are two vintage-inspired wash bags and a new edition of Hindmarch's Universal Bag.

It is a warm and witty celebration of British retail history. With just the right amount of design irreverence.
